Composition 9/11

Simplicity

This photo is showing a burning building but it has simplicity because the background is not complicated and it helps the focus on the subject.
Pic1

Balance

In this photo is building with smoke in the air if you were to put a line through the middle it would be somewhat symmetrical.
Manhattan was bathed in an eerie smoke for days afterwards

Lines

The building has a bunch of lines on it and is broken by the crash in the middle on it caused by the plane.
attention-seeking conspiracy nutters

Avoiding mergers

George, Hillary, and Rudolph  tour the worlds trade mark.In this photo there is no merging between the tree subjects.

Framing

In this photo is the broken building outlines the man on the ladder leading our focus to him.

Rule of thirds

In this photo Andrew Card is informing former president George bush that the second plane has hit the tower. George and Andrew's conversation is in the top right corner making us focus in that area.

photo manipulation and ethics

A. one of the main points to the article was that photo shopping to much isn't a great idea because you reality.
B. the philosophy of the news paper involved with manipulation is how some of the news papers photoshopped picture to explain their reasoning.
C. some thing that would be okay and not considered unethical are maybe cropping and maybe changing the lighting, but not to change the mood of the picture.
D. I think that this is the most unethical one because its trying to show how fonda is doing a "good deed" but in reality she never did it. It shows people a false story trying to make her look like the good guy, when she could be a stuck up person.

E. I think this is the least unethical because in both pictures they are have a good time. the lighting is just slightly different not changing the mood or the way the picture is looked at.

academic shoot preview

  "The Story"

This picture is showing the kids helping out in a community activity that is helping those in need. It shows how there is food on the table and the kids sorting out what goes where.

"Filling The Frame"

There is something going on in all parts of the picture, like the experiment is in the middle and the people are surrounding it.

 "Action and Emotion"

The action is the experiment going everywhere and the emotion is their reaction to it exploding.

Second step

The picture i picked is a girl pouring pink paint on a speaker and it splashing up to the beat. What made me pick it was the bright neon pink color splashing attracted my eyes to it since its so noticeable. The rules of photography that belongs to this picture is simplicity since it is up close focusing on the subject of the picture and the subject is in the middle of the picture.

I'd say my science class would be the best place to take similar pictures. i would like to visit Mrs keyes my science teacher since they are doing a experiment at the moment. As a photographer i am going to try to focus in the angles i take the picture and centering the subject.

camera history

My camera

  1. The camera obscura is a way of projecting something on to a wall, you'll have a dark room and make a small hole in the wall.
  2. the way we got a step closer to the modern day camera is when Isaac newton and christian huygen perfected the understanding of optics along with the process of making high quality glass lenses.
  3. The parts of the modern day camera niepce created were film, a glass lens, and a dark box.
  4. Something that the modern day camera has in common with niepce's camera is that its a dark box with a lens and film.
  5.  How the modern camera s work is that light passes through the glass and exposes the film and in the end you get a photograph.

Camera modes

  1.  auto mode controls flash based on weather you push it or not and program mode you get to control it.
  2. Portrait mode is used to blur out the background. How its used is that the camera uses the fastest available lens setting.
  3. Sports is used to freeze any motion. How it work is that the camera uses the highest stutter speed possible.

The half press

  1. You should use the half press on the trigger button because that allows faster camera response time, more control over the focus, encourages better composition.

Controlling flash

  1. The symbol below shows there is no flash. you use it wen you want a dramatic mood to your photograph.
  2. this symbol means the auto flash is a determined by default. if the camera thinks it needs more light it will automatically fire.

Introduction to exposure

  1. If there is too much light the photo will be washed out.
  2. If there is not enough light the photo will be too dark.

The universal stop

  1. A "stop" is used to represent a relative change in the brightness of light.
  2.  If there are 1 suns instead of 2 then the planet would be 1 stop brighter.
  3. IF there were 4 sun instead of 2 then the planet would be 2 stops brighter.

Shutter and aperture

  1. longer shutter speed has the effect of more light.
  2. shorter shutter speed has the effect of less light.
  3. the aperture effects the amount of light that reaches the film
  4. when adjusting the aperture, you can increase the amount of light by setting the F-stops numbers to lower numbers, which create larger openings, which in turn increases the amount of light.
