Austin photographer

Melissa Glynn

During the holidays Melissa goes to Johnson city(Fredericksburg), Dallas, and Huston. Each of her sessions are 30 minutes and cost $329.  For weddings collections its at least $2,400 and for boudoir its $600. If you are out of town she will go to you but if its 50 miles out of Austin there is a fee.

Melissa takes pictures of weddings, head shots, family photos, and maternity. I picked her because i liked the poses and the angles she took the pictures in. She didn't really have a specific theme to her photos they were all different from one another.

In her family photos i like all the props and back grounds she uses like the kids laying on the teddy bear is so adorable. In all he family photos it shows a cute relationship with each other. In her wedding photos you can see the emotion and excitement in the picture.
I like this one because of the cute little kids. This photo falls under symmetry.
003_20140511_SORIANO.jpg I like the brick wall behind them and all the color. This photo could fall in balance.
2016-03-07_0008.jpg I like how it looks in black and white. This photo could fall in both rule of thirds and simplicity.
This is a cute picture of the bride, i like how her dress is spread out on the floor. This photo could go under lines because of the line from the door opening leads to the bride.
This picture in general is adorable just because of the couple but the landscape makes it 100x cuter. this picture goes in viewpoint because its at a farther distance.

mural project

Our theme was halloween so I decided to get some pictures from the pumpkin patch and the dia de los muertos festival. The dia de los muertos was a little hard to get "halloween" pictures since its just a bunch of skeletons.

self portrait

1st quote

Looking within the frame alternatively you could have your subject looking at something (or someone) within the frame. A child looking at a ball, a woman looking at her new baby, a man looking hungrily at a big plate of pasta…. When you give your subject something to look at that is inside the frame you create a second point of interest and a relationship between it and your primary subject. It also helps create ‘story’ within the image.

Group Portraits- Group portraits are hard to do well, and the larger the group, the harder they are. It's not easy to get a good, telling photograph of one person, and the problems are compounded exponentially with groups. We have all had the experience of trying to get the family or the ball team to pose for a picture. Just getting all of them arranged so you can see their faces is hard enough. Then, of course, you want an image where everyone looks good—no one's eyes closed, no grimacing. Making group portraits takes imagination, patience, and diplomacy. Use your imagination. Find a way to relate the group to an environment that expresses something about what kind of group they are. Do it literally, humorously, dramatically, or by complete contrast. Get ideas from them.

Environment portraits

I like how he isn't paying attention to the camera but to the object he has in his hands.I picked it because it caught my eye how he was one of the few not looking at the camera.Image result for environmental portrait
I like how she is in her bedroom its simple and comfortable. I picked it because in my eyes it stood out because you would think environment as outside but she's inside at her natural state of being.

I like how she's being goofy. I picked the picture because she doesn't mind a weird picture of her being silly.

I like how she used the Christmas light. The "experimenting with lights" is what made me choose this picture.

Casual portrait

I like that her body isn't towards the camera and she's looking over her shoulder.

I also like that her body is side ways but she's still looking directly at the camera.

portraits

i plan on shooting with my friend we will probably do it at the park or in my house. for my friend i kind of want to do something like the last picture i posted. im not sure what i want to do for myself portrait but ill figure something out quick.

magazine part 2

Image based

This is the most used on it is simple. This photo contains one person or not people. The person in the photo can be looking anywhere making any face. Most celebrities go with this type of photo. This doesn't only work with people it go along with food, landscapes, animals, etc. But the nature of the photography has to go along with the style of publication.

Illustration based

This one is pretty simple to explain. Instead of using a camera all you need is a pencil and paper...maybe some artistic skills. But people use to this for the cover of magazine people still do mostly independent publish magazines. it might take more time since you have to do it manually but it looks more creative in my opinion.

Typed based

To me this one is the easiest. to draw peoples attention to your typed cover is by doing different fonts and designs. this wouldn't be my first option just because i see it as boring and id rather see more detail. It says that the can present it better but i go by a picture has a thousand words.

Concept based

This type of cover has to almost immediately be understood by the readers and you might want to make it funny for them. this is a little bit of each of the ones i explained earlier. This type is not seen often.

american soldier

A- I think the most powerful one is when he's laying down on the phone with his family. i think its powerful because it shows how he cares for his family but is still willing to serve for his country.

B- It shows like check points in his experience in the military.

C- The captions kinda tell you the main idea of the photo.

D- Basically he joins the military having to say goodbye to his family and his girlfriend. during the military he stats getting comfortable and on his first time going back home he talked to his girlfriend about getting married. when he went back he claimed that basic training was nothing like the real deal. throughout the time he was there he had some family issues. When Ian got home him and his fiance  officially got married.

E- Past tense

F-

  1. there were 1 or 2 on each caption, some were incomplete.
  2. They provide basic who or where.
  3.  extra things like where.
  4. why they are doing it.
  5. Yes
  6. Yes.
G- The picture are showing and explaining whats going on and the captions are giving you a little push to understand.
H- well when you write the story you can include words that makes the reader feel like they are there.

My Favorite cover

Favorite

The New York Times Magazine, May 19, The Secret Lives of Germs

Photographer: Hannah Whitaker
Designer: Arem Duplessis
"This cover story by Michael Pollen argues that while we have been obsessed with eradicating germs, there are health advantages to being exposed to them. The cover shot by Hannah Whitaker of a baby being licked by a dog makes graphic the prevalence of germs in our everyday lives."

-So in his description he's talking about germs but i see this picture differently and it would have a different meaning to me. i would explain it as how people are to involved with technology (including myself) and how we should spend more time with human interaction and dealing with live things. the light is good it looks like the natural sun light. The image is what caught my eye but the next thing that i would say got my attention is the large font. The top font kinda throws it off just since its small the font makes it a bit harder to read.
